How we verify listings

What gets checked

Before a shop is published we confirm, from sources the business itself controls:

• That it exists and trades. A working website or an active Google Business Profile, plus a street address that resolves to a commercial premises.
• That it actually services EVs. Electric-vehicle work has to be described on the shop's own site or profile. A general garage that will "have a look" does not qualify.
• Contact details. Phone number and address taken from the business's own published information, not from a data aggregator.
• Certifications, where claimed. High-voltage safety training, ASE L3, I-CAR and manufacturer approvals are recorded as the shop states them.
• Services and brands. Mapped to our categories from the shop's own description of its work.

Each listing carries the date of its last check. Anything older than twelve months is queued for re-verification, and shops we can no longer confirm are archived rather than left to go stale.

What we cannot verify

We are not an accreditation body, and it is worth being blunt about the gap. We do not inspect premises, audit qualifications with the issuing organisation, test workmanship, or check insurance and licensing. A listing here means a shop's public claims were consistent and checkable on the date shown — not that we vouch for the quality of a specific repair.

Always confirm certifications and warranty terms directly with the shop before authorising work.

How results are ordered

Every listing carries a completeness score out of 100, shown on its page. Points come from having a verified street address, ZIP, phone number, website, coordinates, a substantive description, published hours, certifications, specialisms, stated warranty terms and a recent verification date.

Results are ordered by that score, then by Google rating where we hold one. Nothing in that calculation can be bought. A shop that fills in its details thoroughly outranks one that does not, which is deliberate: a complete listing is a more useful result.

Ratings and reviews

Star ratings shown against a listing come from that shop's public Google profile. They are labelled with their source and the date we last read them, and they are deliberately not published as schema.org aggregate-rating markup — restating a third party's ratings as your own is both misleading and against Google's structured-data guidelines.

Reviews written directly on this site are held unpublished until a person has read them. We remove anything that reads as a competitor attack or a solicited testimonial, and reviews cannot be bought, removed on request, or edited by the business.

Where the cost figures come from

The ranges in our cost guides are compiled from published shop pricing, manufacturer parts pricing and owner-reported invoices, then sense-checked against what listed shops quote. They are national estimates for judging a quote against. They are not offers, and your actual price depends on location, vehicle condition and parts availability. Each guide shows when it was last reviewed.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, we want to know — use the correction link on any listing or the contact form. Reports from the business owner are handled first. We do not charge to correct an error, and we do not remove accurate information because a business dislikes it.
